World Series
Milwaukee sweeps Los Angeles to reach its first World Series since 1982.

Milwaukee closed it out Thursday night. Finally. The Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 4, sweeping the series and clinching their first National League pennant and World Series berth since 1982.
Garrett Mitchell put the Brewers ahead for good in the sixth, driving a home run off reliever Tanner Scott. In the ninth, David Hamilton added a solo shot, according to NPR. Los Angeles had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning on Shohei Ohtani's three-run homer, NBC News reported. Milwaukee clawed back from there, finishing off a four-game sweep of the two-time defending champions.
Jake Bauers drove in two runs with a fourth-inning double. In the fifth, he walked with the bases loaded to tie the score, The Guardian reported. He was named NLCS MVP. Four relievers followed. Aaron Ashby threw three scoreless innings among them, and the bullpen shut down Los Angeles over the final seven innings, according to NPR.
Last year it went the other way. Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in the 2025 NLCS, NBC News noted. This time the Brewers, who led the majors with 103 regular-season wins, never trailed again after the sixth and became the first team to sweep a best-of-seven postseason series after trailing in every game, NPR reported.
"We got down early tonight and we were like, it's going to be a great story." That's what Brewers captain Christian Yelich said, according to NPR. "We're going to come back and win this. Stay together, start chipping away. And that's exactly what they did."
For the Dodgers, the loss ends a bid for a third straight title, a feat only the Yankees have pulled off, from 1998 to 2000, NBC News reported. Ohtani struck out three times. He's dealing with knee and biceps discomfort that he'll address in the offseason, The Guardian reported.
Milwaukee hosts Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 23, against the winner of the American League Championship Series between Cleveland and Tampa Bay, NPR reported. The Brewers' only previous World Series trip came in 1982, as an American League club, a seven-game loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Dave Roberts didn't make excuses. "We got beat." The Dodgers manager put it bluntly, according to The Guardian. "We got outplayed in all facets. Those guys played flawless. You've got to sometimes just tip your cap."
